Disaster management can be defined as the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies, in particular, preparedness, response and recovery in order to lessen the impact of disasters. It means that all such measures should be taken so that hazard cannot take form of disaster. We cannot prevent the coming of many natural hazards but can reduce their harmful effects through proper management, so that the loss of life and property can be minimized.Disaster risk management is the application of policies and strategies to prevent new risks, reduce existing risks and manage residual risk, contributing to the strengthening of resilience and reduction of losses. (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), 2017).The problems that we encountered are the following: (1) Limited means of information dissemination, (2) Deficiency of information and instructional materials. (3) Laborious process in disseminating practices for basic first aid and basic rescue operations.As a way to resolve these matter, the researchers propose a project entitled AnunsyoKalamidad: Mobile App for Disaster Preparedness and Risk Management in order to share some useful information to determine what to do when encountering incidents such as floods, earthquakes, typhoons, landslide, etc. AnunsyoKalamidad. Mobile App for Disaster Preparedness and Risk Management aims to help the citizens to make them more aware, it aims to find out on what to do on how terrible the disaster that can harm themselves. This system shall have additional information that serves as a guide for future disasters and provides information that provides a way to help people from disasters, and to relief from damage to their properties. The proposed system shall also have basic first aid manual that provides guidance on what to do with disaster victims and basic rescue manual that serves as a guideline on how to rescue people on the brink of extinction. It shall also have tests for information on upcoming disasters and ways to save lives for disaster victims to prove themselves that they can do it all by the time they arrive.AnunsyoKalamidad: Mobile App for Disaster Preparedness and Risk Management aims to help citizens for further information about disasters. It serves as an additional information or manual in order to prepare themselves, to be more aware in the event for those incidents.Purpose and Description of the Project The system aims to improve their awareness and knowledge for disasters and incidents that may happen during calamities. To provide additional information to all the users that may help them to be prepared and safe in the event of a disaster. AnunsyoKalamidad: Mobile App for Disaster Preparedness and Risk Management is an offline mobile application which serves as a guide and information app for disasters for the sake of the citizens. The system composed of the following modules: Guidelines for every disaster such as landslide, typhoon, flashfloods, earthquake etc. Practices on how to perform basic first aid and basic rescue operations to the victims of the disaster, and Quiz to determine either if the user gain some knowledge about the information given or not and to determine if the user know the procedures on how to perform basic first aid and basic rescue operations.
